Experience Summer at ICEHOTEL – Where the Midnight Sun Meets Sparkling Ice Art
For many, ICEHOTEL is the symbol of sparkling art suites made of ice and snow, northern lights, and snow-covered winter landscapes. But did you know that ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, is just as magical in summer? Here, midnight sun, ice art, Arctic culinary experiences, and untouched wilderness meet in striking contrast. It’s a place where you can take a morning swim in the Torne River, hike undisturbed in the wilderness – and fall asleep surrounded by snow and ice that same evening.
Winter Inside, Summer Outside
Since 2017, ICEHOTEL 365 – the year-round part of ICEHOTEL – has remained open thanks to the help of solar power. Here, guests can sleep in one of 18 art suites made of ice and snow and enjoy a drink at ICEBAR by ICEHOTEL after a day of summer wilderness adventures.—
Sleeping in an art suite during summer is an unforgettable experience. There’s something special about stepping into the cool, silent suite after a day in the sun,
says Marie Herrey, CEO of ICEHOTEL. In late June, a brand-new art suite just opened inside ICEHOTEL 365: “Gentle Light”, created by Japanese artists Natsuki and Shingo Saito. The suite is a poetic and detailed tribute to snow and ice, where frost and snowflakes take center stage. An Arctic Summer Full of ExperiencesICEHOTEL offers summer activities for all the senses: paddle a canoe or try whitewater rafting on the Torne River, hike under the midnight sun, or try your luck in the guided fishing adventure. From mid-May to mid-July, the sun never set – perfect for late-night sauna rituals, evening swims, and wilderness dinners prepared over open fire at one of our outdoor camps. At the ICEHOTEL Restaurant, guests can enjoy Arctic flavors made from seasonal, local ingredients such as reindeer, Arctic char, and cloudberries. Don’t miss the four-course Ice Menu – an unforgettable dining experience where each dish is served on plates made from crystal-clear ice from the Torne River. Stay Your Way – All Year RoundICEHOTEL 365 offers both classic art suites and luxurious deluxe suites, complete with private heated bathrooms and saunas. For those who prefer warmer accommodations, traditional hotel rooms and cozy cabins are also available. Summer in Jukkasjärvi is short but intense – and at ICEHOTEL, you can experience both seasons in one stay: the light of the midnight sun outside, and the chill of ice and snow inside. It’s a place of calm, creativity, and nature – with moments that stay with you long after you’ve returned home.
