Soon, locals and visitors to Copenhagen will be able to step straight into a world of ice in the heart of Strøget. On November 7, ICEBAR BY ICEHOTEL Copenhagen opens its doors – a brand-new meeting place where Arctic chill, ice art, and Nordic flavors meet the city’s vibrant pulse.
Right now, ice artists, light designers, and builders are working side by side to shape 50 tons of crystal-clear natural ice from the Torne River into art and concept.
ICEHOTEL, world-famous for its art and ice-and-snow suites in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, is now opening its first permanent ICEBAR outside of Sweden. Here, drinks are served in glasses made of ice from the Torne River – in an atmosphere where ice meets light, design, and creativity.
Whether you’re looking to enjoy a drink after work, celebrate something special, or host a one-of-a-kind kick-off with colleagues, ICEBAR offers a new way to experience Copenhagen.
The Taste of Norrbotten – in the Heart of Copenhagen To bring guests a taste of the North, ICEBAR has partnered with Norrbottens Destilleri. Together, they’ve created a menu concept that tells the story of the nature surrounding ICEHOTEL’s origins in northern Sweden – with flavors of wild berries, herbs, and locally foraged ingredients.
“What we value most about Norrbottens Destilleri is that they – just like us – stay true to their roots and draw inspiration directly from the surrounding nature. The result is drink experiences that carry the essence of Norrbotten out into the world – served in ice glasses made from the waters of the Torne River,” says Marie Herrey, CEO of ICEHOTEL.
Origin – Where the Torne River Meets Copenhagen
ICEBAR is designed by Swedish artists Christian Strömqvist and Karl-Johan Ekeroth and carries the name Origin. The theme celebrates water as the source of life – and the Torne River, which each year gives life to both ICEHOTEL and ICEBAR. Every year, ICEBAR is reborn with a new artistic expression, making each edition a unique experience.
Copenhagen Leads ICEHOTEL’s International Expansion ICEBAR Copenhagen is the first ICEBAR outside of Sweden to be operated directly by ICEHOTEL – marking the beginning of an exciting international expansion.
Construction at Østergade 13, near Kongens Nytorv, is well underway, with the grand opening celebration taking place on November 6, before opening to the public on November 7.
